ok so I lifted the cap for IC 80 and all is good. I then went to lift the pin for it but some how lifted pin 8 on IC83 instead. So I i measured that and VCC was fine. I then went to remove C808.Here I noticed that pin 3 shorts to GND as does pin 7 with C808 removed and pin 8 lifted . So I guess id have to lift pin 7 and 3 as well to be sure its not that IC since they are tied to VCC pad and touching that pad shows a short meaning the short is somewhere else ?? EDIT: I need a pointier Blade to lift IC80 pin and some others I guess. I should just remove them entirely with the hot air station and test off the board. Nashou

For that ic I would remove it completely. It's easier.

Trying to put them back is beeeeeaaaaauch!! At work till about 8 might get back at it when I return home. Should I leave all the parts off I remove till we find the short? Athanasios

Yes, I would not put anything back in. Actually if it ends up being something that is repairable you will more then likely have to order a part so I usually just order new parts for all those little caps and what not and replace them anyways.

Ok so go with removing the smaller IC's I can not lift the VCC pins on and remove all Caps and just order new one once We find the part causing the short. Athanasios

Removed some more caps. had a bad thing happen , tore the pad of C863 for IC81 that pad went to pin 14 VDCO which the cap was between pin 16 VDC1. both pins short to GND.
Not sure if I should proceed anymore? Do those pins do anything internally, that is connect?
Oh and the cap measured fine at 4.2uf

Don't worry about it, just continue. Everything is fixable.

I think you just need to lift the 5 pins for 3.3m to ic81 and see what you got to know if that ic is bad or not.
Put a little flux on the tip of the iron if you have any. It helps with the higher temp solder.

I ordered the Chip Quik and will remove the entire chip I think, and all chips on that circuit. Then We'll get to the bottom of this!!

Set up the station. The board is a bit too large for the PCB holder arms but I'll re work them so I can use them on larger boards. I will read the manual a bit but I think I like this so far. I pre heated the board a bit but not sure what the Temp is set to Fº or Cº.

Cool! Are there adapters for the hot air gun? Yes but there are so many more you can get. Like wide dispersing ones for the really large BGA's. Athanasios

Ok I decided to remove IC81 with the pre heater and Chip Quik. It came off fairly easy but I stll managed to pull off three pads but now I have no short from what I can tell. So looks like it is fried but on the schematics it says not available. Nashou

What a shame. Looks like the only way out is to replace the whole board. It is still available but it is around 200 bucks. I am surprised how often the processor is blown on Yamahas.

Ok Digikey and Arrow have it but does this chip need to be programed? It looks like a flash type not rom from the part number.
But its 20 + dollars and not stocked. 12 week lead time.
