Just put some card board or plastic under the ballast if you lay it on top of another board. I would like to know if that spark gap is flickering. You seem to have all the voltages. Those opto couplers are nothing more the a photo switch. The isolated side can be jumped for testing but before we get into that I would like you to check that spark gap.

Test that R6 resistor on that ballast board also. Those carbon resistors can go open sometimes.

Would like to have it working for the meet in Oktober, at least just to use it as a geometry reference for the CRT setup, wich is pretty much what it do best. Hi,
I have a FullHD Projector (Benq MH740) that I could bring with me if needed. It too is good for geometry reference (and that's about it... ;-)
Kind Regards, barclay66

Test that R6 resistor on that ballast board also. Those carbon resistors can go open sometimes. I tested that R6 the other day, was around 5 ohm if i recall right, there is no sparks or anything, its dark now so i turned of the light, noticed nothing. The ballaster is now ready to be fiddeled with while powering everything on.

I have a couple ballasts here somewhere so give me some time to find them and I can get you some readings from certain components. I am just a little busy right now and extra time is not available.

I have a desire to replace all 3 optoisolators, anyone who can help find a compatable replacement to the obsolete NEC ones.?

Sorry. Been real busy. Who do you get your parts through and I will cross to what they have?

would it be a idea to get a new spark gap thing, and how to know the type of that one.?

Well that is hard to say. Usually they are just used for high voltage or static discharge but I do not know if it serves another purpose in this application. So you can change it if you wish or wait and see if the opto couplers fix it or not.

Any update on your progress? I am trying to troubleshoot a ballast from a rs45. I think they are similar. My ballast is a rubycon RPB-0526GA. It looks like a few diodes got a little crispy on the back of the board. Will try and take some photos.
Would really like to get it working.Info is scarce. Like to compare it to my g90.
Thanks!
