These projectors have been repaired. The problem with these projectors power supplies are the capacitors (not surprising with ViewSonic). These capacitors must all be replaced on the power supply board. This board is in the back of the projector, under the lamp ballast, which is under the logic board. This projector is very complicated and tight for space to assemble and disassemble. If you haven't worked with electronics before you may want to take it to someone you trust. Take your time when disassembling the projector so you do not damage any cables or components.
Once the capacitors have been replaced on the power supply, reassemble the projector carefully, and completely. You are now ready to test. Before testing, make sure your lamp is installed and secured with the screws, and that you have the lamp cover closed and screwed in so it does not open. Plug the projector in and power it on, you should see the power LED switch to off, then shortly after the projector will engage and the bulb will ignite. Your projector is now successfully repaired.
Enjoy!
Thanks to Frankens for finishing the capacitor list!!

Original Post:
Got a couple of these little guys here, they seem pretty decent for their specs.
Problem with both of them: You can plug them in, the blue LED ring around the power button fully lights up, pressing the power button makes the blue LED turn off, and a relay click is heard. Nothing happens for a few seconds.
The projector then makes another relay click and the LED comes back on. Then it makes another click, which after this last click, the projector will allow me to attempt to power it up again, but the same result is had each time.
I have 2 good (supposedly) bulbs here for these projectors. I doubt they are both bad, they both look like brand new, and they are original ViewSonic bulbs.
I looked at the power supplies and ballasts, but couldn't find any bad capacitors/diodes/resistors off the bat. Without a schematic or service manual I really don't know where to proceed from here. Hoping I can get some help on these.

Ha, I was wondering how long it would take you to post this over here, LOL. Are any of the other LEDs lit of flashing?

Well I thought since that was a projector website maybe someone there had one and just happened to have the same problem, and THEN possibly know a fix for it, lol. Anyway, no, there are no other LEDs flashing, it just does what was described before. Like I said, I'm at a loss since I've never seen a no power issue like it

Have you opened 1 up yet?
I'll be back in a couple hours.

Yeah I've opened them both up and done some checks on the PS units and ballasts, couldn't find anything. I didn't think to check the main logic board, which may be a possibility I suppose (I had a Epson HC 8350 that had a similar issue, but it was related to a couple of bad 5 pin ICs on the logic board)

Can you hear the color wheel spin up as it is trying to start?

nothing spins up or makes noise other than the relay. It just does the LED/relay thing and that's all.

I would check the color wheel just to be sure it is not damaged or stuck. If it is ok then I would start with checking the PS outputs. Are the boards marked at all near the connectors?

No, it doesn't specify voltages, I could do manual checking, will just take a bit longer. I'll check the color wheels and get back to you

okay color wheels are fine, kind of expected that anyway. I did do a bunch of checks to some parts on the main logic board of the projector but didn't find anything wrong.
I suppose the next step would be to see if there is voltage getting to the logic board?

Check for these voltages.

Oh, I forgot. Also check all the buttons to make sure none are stuck on. Test each one and make sure you feel or hear each one click.

replaced all but the 4.7 uf 400v and the 180uf 450v caps and the projector is working now for me as well. (snicker - accidentally missed a zero on my order and got 4.7uf 40v cap - my bad.. luckily, it was not bad when tested)
