I have very similar problem. On one of the adapter wires I get 9 volts then zero. The resistance on the other wire to ground is not 16 ohms but 34 ohms. When I provide 12v to adapter red light turns on and ac output jumps to 60 vac. Removing the 12v then red light out and acv drops

Certainly would appreciate your professional guidance. The generator Q55 ( Model 09592-3 Serial 307-1784 5500 Watts) fails intermittently, failure mode is no red light and noAC output.
Thus far I have found the following:
When unit is functional, the resistance between V/R pin 3 ( third pin down) to ground is about 20 ohms and when not working the resistance is 380 ohms.
If I briefly apply 12v to pin 3 the red light will illuminate briefly, will not stay on.
The boost appears to be working, it will jump to about 6 to 8 volts then down to zero.
Very intermittent, it may work fine and very next start it would fail again! Sometimes I can start and stop the generator 6 or maybe 8 times in a day and it will work properly about 50% of the time. Bad Brushes? Unit has 700 hours on it.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best Regards, James
