Is the cpu bad ? Or the diode is shorted out ?

I'm thinking it's the CPU. This is what I was trying to get you to verify, to test and see if the CPU pins 89,90 and 91 are showing short to ground. But I was having you test at those resistors instead of on the cpu itself. I asked you to test that diode just to see if it showed short because I am not sure how it would affect the circuit if it was blown short. So I cannot say for sure the cpu without knowing the status of that diode. Unless those cpu pins are showing short.

Well i measured the pins of cpu and there was no short indicated. I measured resistance also between where d1046 was and the pins showed 1 kilo ohm each pin 89, 90 91 I see couple main boards on ebay one for 25 + 12 s&h (untested) and 59$ + free shipping.

If you are not showing short can you test that diode. Or did it get damaged during removal?

If I locate 1 on another board do you want to try and swap it just to see?

Is there place to buy new diodes and transistor. Is there subsitute for diodes in order to test?

I am sure I can find you all the replacements you need, BUT, are you sure you don't want to try taking that 1 diode off of another board just to see if it solves the power problem? Cause if it ends up being a CPU problem you would be wasting money on all the other parts, even though they are probably very cheap.

Is there a plain diode I can buy at radio shack that will direct replacement for test ?

Yes, you can use 1n4148. I believe yours is a surface mount and these are through hole but you can still just cut the legs down and solder it to the pads. Just make sure you mount the end with the black stripe towards the 3, 1k resistors.

I installed diode and it went down to 2.65v so i guess cpu is bad.

Unfortunately I would have to agree.
