Hi all, im still in the process of trying to find out why my 2001 model Cine 9 wont stay on.
so far ive swapped out the SMPS and the horizontal DEF boards one at a time, i thought the issue was cured with the SMPS but its still doing the same thing.
What happens is the set will turn on normally, and the white warmup screen comes on, then after around 30-45 seconds on average the set will shut off.
There are no error codes shown in the diagnostics section, and the voltages are all fine, i have all green lights under the cover, none of them flicker or fade at any point.
Im about to swap out the power factor correction board to see if that has any effect, i have another complete working 2005 model Reality909 here.

Quick update, i swapped the PFC, EHT, and SMPS 2 boards one at a time, tests in between, it is none of those.
Heard a zap and it shut down after 20 odd minutes running, thought id done a fuse somewhere but no, the set fired up fine after a five minute rest.
On start up the splitter seems to squeal a bit. The quad has always done that.

When it shuts off are there any RED LEDs on the EHT or I think the vertical deflection board?

Do you have a CPU board to swap? I think the CPU board is telling the SMPS whether it should be on or off. I'd swap this board to see if it stays on.

Yep, ive got one there, at one point i suspected that because it sometimes didnt select the correct input data, it was taking a completely different input for my 1080p setting

Try a controller if you have one, especially with no error codes. Get the board narrowed down and we can then try to find the problem on it.

Swapped that, set is staying on but it sometimes does that.
Splitter is arcing at the quad input. I will swap that out.
This other controller board doesnt have as many menu features...

Good thing you got spareparts. Swap EHT, quad and splitter one by one to find the culprit. Yes, a 909 controller will have less features than a Cine 9/Max regarding picture tunning. Not something to worry about. The only downside is that the Cine 9/Max has a software limitation for the maximum scan frequency, to be able to run the fans at slower speed. So it could be that when puting a 909 controller in a Cine 9, it won't be so silent anymore or you'll get a fan fail message. If someone needs the latest Cine 9 bin files to flash the soft. let me know.

The fans are still quiet, i havent noticed a change.
Swaped the EHT, both SMPSs, horizontal board, convergence, focus, controller, splitter, and then finally the quad. Its been running for 6 hours now, but i still have no idea which board fixed it as no one swap did fix the issue.

Ok, update, yes it stays on, but the convergence went totally screwy after a while, like as if it tried to shut off, no menus, no OSD, but still an image.
Id say it will indeed be the system board, but what would cause that???

Is the convergence and menu issue only on your original controller or both.
