Thank you dummyload. But the jumpers in the controller board and SMPS sub board are open. I can't use both remotes. No reactions.

Hulio can you tell the component number of the smd capacitor that you replaced at your controllerboard and how you know it was defective ? Sure, no problem. It was C201 from I/O & Supply section. The controller came from a mil. simulator with a sticker mensioning "defect" on it. Not that i am such an expert when comes to electronics, but taking a close look trying to find something burned, i saw an interesting thing: the SMD cap was missing and someone had tried to replace it with a radial cap. I say " tried" because just one leg was making contact with the PCB. It even was a wrong value. I took a look at the service manual, identified the cap and found out it cost 0,30 $. I payed 3 $ for 10 pieces, because one would be to small for shipping ?, and put the heat on it. The projector still could not boot but allowed me to flash in " emergency repair modus" ( see thread about soft. flashing ). Before, without the cap, no way the controller could communicate with the computer. Here a picture showing the replaced cap with, left the remaining 9 caps and right the radial cap i found in place. Decibel: The W2 jumper ( force SMPS on ) Case is talking about, must be there. Each controller have it, i think you overlooked it. Is close to the big connector that goes into the mainboard.

There is no need to be trying to force on the P/S. It is surely coming on since he has HV and deflection.

Make sure you replace that cap and don't just resolder it. Unless you test it to be sure it has not gone short.

No i don't work for barco ( life only 8 miles from the plant, but that's it),Have a cinemax that i repaired ,and now have bought a 909 split pack (as back up, and test projector) with dead controller board but will start another threat on that one. Thanks Hulio for sharing i was not a ware this can cause this kind of behavior .

Hey Hulio! Also my controller have an electrolitic cap in this place! That' funny, i thought only mine was butchered that way. It means that Barco did that on a regular basis. Looking on schematics of the controller, C201 is responsible for remote controlling the projector by RCVDS. My guess is that for simulation purposes, the controller was mod for RCVDS commands only, disabling the standard remote Remember, my projector could not start neither before replacing that cap. It also means that the controller is not original, but from a SEOS 919. No reason for a Cine 9/Max to have that mod done.

I'm sure that the previous owner did not put his hands into the projector. So if the jumpers are open as I found when I opened for first time the projector, it means that this is the normal operating condition.

Maybe J30 jumper on SMPS sub-board is shortened ? That disable standby too. Or, last time the projector worked, the previous owner choosed the way projector will react when power switch is hit, on the service menu ?

There is no need to be trying to force on the P/S. It is surely coming on since he has HV and deflection. Im insisting the jumper be removed if present, because im wondering why his power switch is turning the SMPS on with no other input, that isnt really normal. I tried putting that jumper in place on my faulty controller a while back, the SMPS would come on, HV, Deflection, tubes had a raster, but no image, and no OSD until you turned the set on via the remote. Even though it was still in standby, the entire set still looked like it was running. i also want him to unplug that internal remote too.
