I'm assuming for testing the display board I should be regrounding the black wires ?? I also have the board connected and free from both sides.

Just to check, I shouldn't need all the boards back in the unit such as component video and preout jacks etc ??

It depends if the unit will stay turned on or not. Many will not stay on without all boards. You need it to stay on for testing. Or you have to jump the main power relay to force power through the unit for testing.

Should I have put the preout jumpers back in possibly?? No, this should not matter. If the relay is not latching on with the button press then you are going to have to jump the main power relay to do further testing.

On the power supply board locate C109, see attached image. Solder a wire across the legs of C109. Just remember that now when you plug it in everything has power even without pressing the power button.
