Also not sure How i missed this but it too has a bulging cap. I'll have to pull the board and check that. Nashou

Yes, replace that cap and do a quick diode test on those 2 FET's.

Yes, replace that cap and do a quick diode test on those 2 FET's. Ok replaced it before i read your post and powered it up. 7 red flashes still but the smaller board on the PS with the green light now blinks 4 times not 7. So the two larger fet's showed readings between outer to inner pins in both direction but showed short on outer to outer pins on both. Nashou

A lot of those FETs have 2 legs tied to gnd. One could be bad but usually all 3 legs would show short. Did you see if it has those buffer boards like in the link I posted 3 posts above?

Yes it has those boards, but what had me confused is the Boards say Drive board not buffer. there are about 6 buffer boards on top and bottom these are on the side. I looked at those chips they seem fine i did not see any pin holes. I'll look better today. Yes those fets are like dual diodes types you can see the pic the anode I think meet in the center? Or am i reading it wrong?

Ok si I tried to power it up with the "buffer" boards disconnected and I get the same red 7 flashes but now the small PS daughter board flashes 13 times.

Buffers disconnected from the panel or the Y sustain?

Buffers disconnected from the panel or the Y sustain? I tried it both ways, but before you posted just the sustain

If with both buffers disconnected from the Y main you still get a 7 blink, and with the power disconnect from the Y main it does not blink then you still have a problem with the Y main. AND, it still does not rule out the buffers. Aren't plasma's fun?

So I guess we check voltages on the Y? but if the unit shuts off we can't so what now? Nashou

Ha, good luck. A lot of these have never been fixed since there are no schematics for them. It is a matter of hunting for shorted parts, ESRing the caps and such. Are there IPM's under those 2 heatsinks? Can you snap a picture of the back of that board?
Oh, give me the numbers off that Y main. I may be able to find something.

Yeah, those are 2 IPM's. There is a test to see if they are shorted. I will have to see if I can find it. If you can determine which pins are gnd and which ones are power and test for short that may tell you. Even comparing from one to the other, unless they are both blown.
