Let's call them receivers #1 and #2.
This thread is focusing on #1. #2 is the one with the cracked front panel.
The HDMI board from #2 gives nothing from HDMI (video or audio) in receiver #1, only thing I got was composite video. No FM sound. The HDMI board from #1 gives sound, but only from the FM tuner in receiver #1. No audio/video from HDMI. I did not try composite video.
I think HDMI board #1 gave audio but no video in receiver #2. (I can confirm this if necessary). HDMI board #2 gave neither audio nor video in receiver #2.
The only devices I tried were the FM tuner, a blu-ray player and the composite video output from an Xbox 360, and I only tried getting sound out of 1 speaker.
What would you like me to confirm

I currently have HDMI #2 in receiver #1.
I just installed the Denon Remote app on my iPhone and tried connecting an ethernet cable. I selected Internet Radio and it will display the song that should be playing, but no audio.
Is there anything you'd like me to do with HDMI board #2 before I switch it out and check things with the original HDMI #1 board.

Here is what i would like you to test.
Using receiver #1 (in this thread) install 1 HDMI board but only connect 1 speaker (FL or FR, we know these work with regular input, right?). Then start up your Bluray player to where it is playing the content and pause it. Now connect it via HDMI 1 and select HDMI 1 in the receivers input selection and see if it outputs sound. Do not connect an HDMI out wire. Retest the remaining HDMI inputs regardless of what you get on the others until all inputs are tested.
Then try the same with the other HDMI board. Remember, no HDMI output connected.

Ok, receiver #1. HDMI board #1.
I should have checked every speaker output. I only get sound out of the FL channel, nothing from FR, Center or SL. HDMI cable from Blu-Ray to Receiver, I hear audio on the FL channel. When I tried plugging HDMI out back in, I still have audio but no video. FM tuner only gets sound out of the FL channel.

Ok, I think we need to get the analog section all finished. What do you have as a device to input 2 channel analog via the audio inputs?

iPhone/iPod via headphone to stereo (red/white) cable. Xbox 360 via analog outputs, unfortunately the video cable doesn't reach all the way across to connect all at once.

Using banana plugs, FR channel does work but not when I push them all the way in. FL channel is fine. Center/SL do not work no matter how much I fiddle with the connection.
This was using iPhone with analog inputs. (DVD)

You need to set the output to 5 channel output. Something odd with that FR connector. You may want to look at the back side of that connector while you insert the banana plug to see if anything is moving or touching. You really don't want anything touching.

Ok, I'm reading the manual now to see how to get it into 5 channel mode, not many buttons on the front.

You also need to make sure the speakers are all turned on in the menu. Page 94 in the user manual, set all to large but turn off sub

Ok, that did the trick. I get sound out of all outputs (except SR obviously). FR was finicky because the binding posts were unscrewed a bit.
This is with my iPhone, analog cable.

Ok, try just connecting the HDMI out to a display (no HDMI in) and see if the receiver will display the menu.

No luck via HDMI out only, no menu display.

Ok, disconnect all HDMI's. Let's go back to network. you said it showed it was connected and playing something on the display but no sound. Try that again but once it starts playing again make sure your out is set to 5 channel output and test for sound on all outputs except the one not finished.
Is this the board that will have sound from the tuner? If not, recheck tuner and switch boards if not sound from this tuner. Check all outputs when testing tuner but also recheck it is set to 5 channel out.

Network sound works in all four channels.
