Hi,
I did find some files on a polish site, but they are for the 818 and 616 unit. No 717 found. Well I bit the bullet and ordered the RT809H programmer from alie with several adapters. The flash cat was more expensive for me in the end with shipping and import fees. Not sure if I did good on this. We'll figure it out i guess. Now I'm still shopping for nand chips. Must be nice for you in the US to have all available and have it on your doormat in one or two days.
As for the nr656, I exchanged the end transistors, two transistors in the pre-amplifier and a resistor in the pre-amplifier. I checked the capacitors but they seem to be fine. but the 47uF cap in parallel with that same transistor I have exchanged to be sure. Now still a little distorted sound on that channel. Not sure where it is coming from. But I will trace the signal with a scope and see where it starts..
These Onkyo's are becoming an addiction haha

OK, I need help with this nand. I have removed it, trying to read it and no matter what I do, it won't recognize the nand. I have a TSOP48 type B socket(I hope it is the right one, I don't have another type). Upgraded the firmware to 4.5 version(PCB 2.1). The switch has to be on 3.3V, right? This Toshiba nand, is listed in the compatible chips list. It is the first one. What I'm doing wrong? Should I select something from the dropdown?

Hi Tibimakai, What is your programmer?

Flashcat. I also have a Minipro TL866A, but I don't have a 48 pin adapter. Flashcat should be able to recognize it, most likely I'm doing something wrong. I don't have much experience with these programers.

I have just purchased an adapter, but it will take a good while until I get that. So, I have removed the TX-NR717 nand from the board and I could provide the dump, but I don't know how to make to recognize the nand chip, with the Flashcat programmer.

Maurice, thanks for the link!
Tibimakai, I don't have Flashcat so I don't know how to proceed, but I believe that for a read operation it should be simple. Does flascat have any Auto Recognition function for the chip?

the pins need to be really clean on that NAND or the adapter won't make good enough contact for the flashcat to read it. Whenever I see this issue, I go back to my lab and use a small paintbrush with isopropyl alcohol to clean the pins as good as possible. ANY left over flux or residue will cause a poor contact on the adapter.

I can't make it to work. I have even tried other Toshiba nands, though I haven't checked, if that type is compatible with Flashcat. I'm waiting for an adapter for the Minipro TL866. The Flashcat adapter is a Type B adapter. If I remember correctly they were selling another type as well. Now I'm not sure, if this type should work with this nand, or not. I'm trying to help with the 717 nand dump, but it seems like I can't help. Sorry about that.

Hmm no progress with you either Tibimakai. I was hoping that i could get some repairs done this weekend. But all my parts and stuff is pending somewhere between China and my house. Also looking for good replacement transistors for the pre-amp board for the 656, Funny that I came across posts on other forums where you were looking for that info as well Tibimakai almost bought a nr646 unit cheap to use for parts, but the deal botched... A big pile of units, but nothing to do for now I need to quit buying these....why can't I just buy toiletpaper like everybody else... have a nice weekend guys.
