Try this one. With the unit turned off press and hold the M-DAX and Dynamic EQ buttons while turning the unit on. The display should show "Restoring FW ...". If it does then wait for it to finish which could be 15-20 minutes.

This is a Denon, x4500h I know it's a Marantz thread but I came here because a lot of people had my problem and they are the same company. Sorry for the confusion. Also this is is almost the most in-depth thread on the Internet about the issue.

OK, now that we have that straightened out, lol. Have you tried doing a firmware update via internet? I did plug it in but got the same result "Update Error" 1202, 1302, 1902, one after the other. Setup and Info buttons doesn't work (No GUI), so all I can do is give you info from the service modes.

Well your error codes are "error during writing" for DSP2, DSP3 and DSP4. Interesting no error on DSP1. I have lots of info on this receiver that we can try but I dont have time now. I will post something tomorrow and we can go from there.
Did you have your network cable plugged in when you tried to do the reset? Where are you getting your information from for button press sequence? You are not able to bring up regular menu on receiver display?

I am using the service manual for the x4500 for the codes. I've tried without and with the network cable plugged in. No setup mode, no network reset (right + dimmer) Thanks for trying to help, Talk to you in a couple days.

To do the network reset the source must be set on “HEOS Music”. But I assume you are not able to select sources?

To do the network reset the source must be set on “HEOS Music”. But I assume you are not able to select sources? I can select inputs, including HEOS but it won't do the network reset. All buttons work, but mostly for service modes. Something I forgot to mention. The GUI will work after a 24-48hr period of unplug. Hard to say how long it will be alive... 1 minute to 1 hour. This makes me think it's the board, it's all very hard to say and without a good flash or attempt at it, I feel a trip to the encompass site is in my future. There is one option: a chance I could probably resolder the chip with solder paste and a heat gun. Reading in grave detail every bit of this thread, it seems that there are weak solder points. I've never done SMD or heat gun/solder paste before, my only concern is that chip didn't seem to have any way to line it up to the board contacts. Even if I screw it up, Encompass probably doesn't care about the condition of chips on the board for their core policies. Since I'll be resoldering that chip, should I just resolder DSP1 as well? Let me know your thoughts. And to save time: If are in agreement about 'try the chip resolder'; what solder paste would you recommend and, at what temperature? Thanks! EDIT: Just looked up the process of reballing, no thanks. The local shop in PHX costs $200 an hour and it's not worth trying to fix the bga.

When you say no GUI what are you referring to? No menu on or off screen, no volume bar on screen

You mean TV screen, not front display? What is front display status? Not TV screen.

There no way to enter setup at all (unless the unit has been off for a few days) I can turn the volume up and see it on the front display but! NOT the TV.

Ok. I am starting to lean to a lost voltage problem more then a firmware issue. I would suggest doing some voltage tests to see if you have a lost rail.
