I remember, that I have read somewhere, that all the firmware modules have to be from the same version. Can't be one newer than the other. Where is Todd when you need him? I guess, he is done with this hobby. Thing is, all the other fw modules are up to date including my dsp, and Onkyo shows no available updates. My current version is 1110-6060-1106 which is the latest one.

Are you using the original flash IC or a replacement ? I've tried original flash (checked against bad sectors) which didn't work and then original Spansion one.

Hi lads
So I have above avr which has no sound. Problem is well known here, where update will stuck at 70%. Long story short, I've replaced so far: - brand new SPI chip, loaded with latest DSP firmware dump - DSP crystal oscillator - DSP chip - SDRAM
Onkyo will play music for about 30-90 minutes and the sound will go off. DSP fw version shows odd characters, update via usb or internet will stuck at 70% ending with 1-83 error message. If I at this point, reload spi firmware with my programmer (btw I've used CH341 and RT809H) sound will come back but again, only for like 30-90 minutes or less. The 3.3V and 1.8V rails look really smooth on my oscilloscope. Does anyone know, what on earth is going on with this Onkyo?

Any cheap UART to USB will do the job. Use Putty or even Windows Terminal. Connect it to P3102A on the hdmi board.

Yeah buddy, tried that already but no joy. It seems like some part of main cpu do work, because I hear speaker relays kicking in after 5 ish seconds. Hey man! What did you do with the reciever? I have the same problem. Thanks I could't fix it I'm afraid. I believe that internal uCom firmware is corrupted.

Blown STK amplifier IC or shorted bridge rectifier for the main power amp rails. Disconnect connector from main power transformer (with double red and blue cables)and try again.

I always remove the 8 pin flash memory to check if it's been corrupted before condemning the DSPs. It's much easier to fix that than remove and replace 176 pin QFPs. I've fixed three SC-LX models now and all of them needed new DSP chips as well as the firmware reloading in the 8 pin flash memory. The VSX-LX models with BGA DSPs often work after being reflowed but can also need the flash memory correcting. Thanks for your prompt reply. Can you still buy genuine Ti DSPs? If so, are you getting them from Aliexpress?

Hi
Have you tried reloading fw first? Do you have to replace DSPs every time?

Don't waste your time on dsp, tx-nr626,636,646 comes with improved (DZBK)chip. Check BASE voltage of the power transistors. It should be around +0.5V and -0.5V.

Try to re-flash fw via usb. Press and hold DISPLAY key, then push the Standby button. Main uCom fw ver. will be shown at this point. Release both keys, press the RETURN key and using arrows down or up, select USB ALL and then ENTER.

Hi
I recently fixed TX-NR656 which had similar issues. No audio output and it wouldn't update via usb or network. Fw update process was ok until it reached 9% and eventually stopped with 0-83 or similar error. Turned out, firmware for 2nd DSP was corrupted.

I'm currently working on Pioneer SC-LX85. Both memory chips have been reprogrammed with working dumps, 1st DSP is booting but 2nd DSP is not. Both DSP have been replaced and they came from the same Aliexpress seller. Just have a look at DD and DTS markings, compared to the original chip. Attachments:

Trying to figure out, what is wrong with this unit. Everything works except network and usb function. So far I've done: - replaced NAND from working board - replaced DSP with D830K013DZKB5 one
- during boot process, I've noticed that wrong MAC address was stored so I've corrected that with "forceenv ethaddr" command.
If I start unit with ethernet cable plugged in, I see that unit is sending dhcp requests and gets a valid ip and dns address, but the Network option in the Settings is grayed out and on the Home page, only Settings is available.
Funny thing is, if I start unit with ethernet cable disconnected, Network option becomes available, and Home page shows all the available options (settings, firmware update, usb, network) but still no joy. I'll attach 3 boot log files shortly: one from the fully working unit, and two from the faulty unit: with ethernet cable connected and disconnected.
