I've sent many 609's for the repair here in UK, and every single unit came back to me with ver.D IC.I would say, flashing dsp chip will fix it

I have a working .bin file mate. I use NandFlash lite or similar name, google it.It's a simple and small programmer but it does the job well.

I have got one of these, with the same issue. Reflowing did not do anything. The question marks, are there when I try looking at the firmware version. Did you manage to repair this receiver? I have looked up the Onkyo free repair site and it shows, that my receiver had been repaired already. What revision of dsp chip do you have, ...BZBK or ..DZBK?

Hello, About month ago, I've purchased faulty amp section only, which wouldn't power up. Turns out, the small sub-power supply was faulty. It was rather an easy fix. After that,I hooked a speaker up and played some music for a while. What I've noticed, is that the sub makes a constant humming noise, even when the input cable is not attached, just mains .Last monday I got 2, this time complete subs with exact same problem, no power.I managed to fix them too.But to to my surprise, they both make them same humming noise Sample below, please turn volume up a bit: vw-8 noiseSo now, I have 3 subwoofer amps doing the same thing. Does your vw-8 sub makes similar noise? Thanks in advance.

Do you get +5V at pin 18 of the HDMI Out port? I would start checking power regulators that provide voltage to Q8000. One of my TX-SR333's has had similar issue, sound was ok but no video. I found that very tiny, +3.3V power regulator was faulty.

I looks like NAND memory (TSOP48) needs to be programmed not DSP IC. Firmware stored in it, or memory chip itself could be faulty too. Apparently, DSP communicates with NAND. The string of ?? may indicate lack of that communication. Either way,It's beyond my knowledge.
