Download the Windows 7 disc from the microsoft site and use the CD key you have allready.
The issue is if you try booting that Windows 7 install the SATA drivers will likely be different, and it wont work. Especially likely if you used RAID or anything other than IDE SATA mode ( or whatever theyre calling it these days )

Even if it does work its a bad idea and youre better off with a fresh install set up correctly, otherwise youre just creating a messy untidy installation that will run slow as a dog, if it works at all.
Its just best practice to do a fresh install with a new machine.

He the problem is even earlier. My IDE drive does not show up in the bios. It is not recognised at all. When I replace the motherboard with the old one the drive is recognised. I do not understand why the M58 pro does not see it, I can find nothing about jumpers in the documentation. There definately is some incompatebility. The seller does not know either. Might be a return case

Some motherboards you can turn off SATA in the bios. Check your bios setting for anything pertaining to SATA. Also, an SATA HD may not always show up in the IDE drive sections of the bios.. They are listed farther down the list.

My IDE drive does not show up in the bios. It is not recognised at all. Do you have the HD set for master, slave or auto detect. If it is set for master or slave and your cable has 2 drive connectors and the wrong one is plugged in, sometimes the MB will not detect it.

Been ages since i saw one that had a jumper in place, SATA pretty much makes it redundant.
In the BIOS settings there will be an option for the two onboard SATA controllers, use the Intel controller, turn the other one off. There is a mode setting for AHCI, RAID, and i think the 3rd option is IDE. It is slower on that setting, but requires no driver to detect the drives connected.

The strange thing about this motherboard is that it starts with an attempt to boot from a network. Than it says press shift F10 to enter setup before that it said press del to enter setup. Than it stops with a message check cable or something. But when I enter setup with shift F10 I see some network boot options that are not explained in the manual. Perhaps I have to chose an option that disables this first?
I will post a screenshot.

This guy almost exactly has the same problem except that his system asks for a floppy. www.pcguide.com/vb/archive/index.php/t-74235.htmlReading the thread it did not get solved there. I think someone messed up a setting in the bios that is not set back with load defaults. Something else to clear/ I did try the button clear cos on the mainboard too. Perhaps it is a bug in the bios? Could remove the battery? Reflash the bios?

Thinking all this over I guess they bricked the bios when flashing it? Is it possible to flash the bios when the system is not running? Return to sender

Yeaaaaah I fixed most issues. The bios definitely was corrupted and it was not possible anymore to update the bios from the bios menu. But I made a dos bootable usb drive and booted from it with a new bios firmware. Than update and rebooted and Yes! It does recognise the IDE drive and when I manually select it in the boot menu it starts up. One little problem that the bootmenu does not seem to automatically boot from the IDE but I am going for a sata drive anyhow.
Other problem that was fixed is that it did not go into standby but started right away. After the update it goes into standby normally.

Ok works perfect now. Even a sata drive from my laptop is recognised.
The thing I have the most trouble with right now is that the fan on the cpu sucks air and the fan on the case sucks air too. Would it not be better is the case fan would blow the air to the cpu? Or that the cpu would blow?
I have a Noiseblocker M12 case fan. Looks like this one would work with CRT too. From a test the Noise blockers have very good flow and are very silent.

The fan on the CPU should blow air down onto the heatsink, unless its a sideways type heatsink in which case have it bow toward the rear of the case. All case fans should blow in the front and out the rear, the side fans should blow in, and the top fan should blow out.
