After working to modify a Marquee 9500 I am going back to modify my Barco CineMax. So to be short I am going to try to modify the CineMax I have. I will start with the casing so I bought a split pack casing. The price was damned low! I also bought a complete video chain and will try how the neckboards perform and probable will let the video chain be modified.

New splitpack case has arrived with some parts. They are really a lot more compact!

After taking the controller, the convergence, focus, astig and the fancontrol board to the split pack there was a little problem. The 909 splitpack started. All leds where green there was high tension but there was no reaction on the remote control. Also the internal remote control did not produce a reaction. However when I connected the internal remote from my Cine Max frame (with the hetch attached) the 909 sp reacted on that remote. And yes everything seemed to work! However still no reaction from the external remote. I have to figure that out next.

There is still something wrong with the controller. It reacted on the internal remote for a while than stopped.
At boot it now says adress : 1 that seems normal?
It still seems the controller is hanging and becomes unresponsive.
I removed the rs232 board in the tray to be sure it is not a bad rs232 board.
Could Seos have made a change on the motherboard causing this?

Ok the strange thing is that when I keep pressing buttons on the internal remote than the Barco stays responsive. If I stop than after a few seconds it does not react anymore.

Ok first post was changed so noone would feel the need to react or defend something. Point taken.
To get back on the 909. It seems that as long as the controller is taking commands from the internal remote it keeps working but as soon as I let it go to search for commands from the ir remote the controller hangs.
So what could cause this?
The rs232 board has been replaced. There is no other ir sensor attached.
I will check the motherboard if there is something on a line that goes to the ir or something.

I am assuming this is the board you have changed: What about this board?

At first that board was not connected. I left it out because it is on the side where the ir sensor of the other board is too. I thaught the set would still work without these sensors connected? However I tried with that board connected too.
The first board was the only board that came with the splitpack. I replaced it with the Max board. But I tried disconnecting it too.
In fact I tried disconnecting both boards.
One thing is that with the original internal remote the barco would freeze even sooner and woudld not display the adress. With the other internal remote the barco did go a little further in any case and display the adress. I know that the internal remote from the Max did blink now and than and now I am thinking that that remote sends some noise signals and that It kept the Barco hooked so it would freeze later?
I will try once more what happens with all sensors disconnected and if disconnecting the internal remote makes the Barco freeze sooner.

He!!!! This is very strange. I disconnected the internal remote and only the internal rs232 board is still connected that I replaced yesterday. Now I start the Barco and it reacts on the ir remote with no problems!
In fact I am not sure what happened. I will test it again a few times because it seems unbelievable.
Still working. Could the rs232 have been the problem and perhaps they did something to the internal remote to make it not working?

I have the Cine Max fancontroll board in the tray and with the Cine Max software the fans are not very loud at all. I trust the temp sensor to increase the spead with time. So this way the split pack is not very noisy but the main part will be placed on the attic so that noise is not a problem so perhaps I should have those fans spin faster with the other software just to keep the electronics cooler.

Well you tried a different remote and a different RS232 board, did you try a different cable for the remote?

Well you tried a different remote and a different RS232 board, did you try a different cable for the remote? Good point. I tried a different internal remote with a different cable. But I have to figure out what internal remote or cable does work. But it is not so important as the internal remote is seldom used.
