Hello Guys, I'm new to the forum but not new to Crt projectors world.
I owned all Quee's incarnation and some of the big Barcos (1208s2, 1209s2) in the past.
I have bought a Barco Cinemax recently (arrived 2 days ago) with fresh new tubes and less than 3000 hours on the counter. It looked as a good offer (not cheap but correctly priced) in consideration it was coming from a person who sells projetor's parts often over Curt's forum (so... a trusted person... I thought ).
Unfortunately there is something wrong with the unit, and... at this point I feel a bit screwed (first time in 15 years of CRT internet shopping).
To make a long story short: this machine has been announced as a perfect working unit but it doesn't sync to anything... or better it syncs but doens't produce any image.
I have checked and all the boards are well inserted and secure, so no bad contacts due to shipping.
It powers up and the menus are working fine, electronic adjustmets and internal patterns are perfectly fine too. Anyway I can't get this machine displaying a video signal. Port 1,2,3 are disabled (no card installed) - only port 4/5 are available.
I have tested the unit with my PC through a VGA-RGBHV cable - All standard resolutions from 800x600@60hz to 1920x1080@60hz - No picture
I have tried with hdmi output from Pc to HD Fury 3. mostly 720p and 1080p - Forced positive sync (activated and disactivated) - No picture
Tried with my PS3 to HD Fury with no results. All the mentioned connections are proved to work fine with my 1209s and my Marquee.
The Cinemax reports every frequency change correctly and promptly but the tubes (all 3) remain pitch black (no video).
When I select an input it displays, for example:
Input 5
67.6 Khz
60hz v
and stay black...
at this point You would expect a text saying "source not available" but it never arrives too.
and the tubes keep black...
It seems my Barco believes video singal is running correctly. I'm hating this baby
And I'm hating the seller even more... because He lied about its condition and when I asked for help he answered a simple single line: "it was working when you paid the shipping fees"
Unfortunately I have no spare boards to swap.
I would really appreciate any suggestion that may help me bringing life to this baby again,
