Yepp. It shouldn't be open. Take a jumper from an hard drive or a Barco spare part and mout it on the "on convergence" position. Just to test.

Tried! In "conv" position the projector show "fan failed" message. In "frame" position no errors and middle rear fan no spin at startup as usual.

You may try both position. I know is confusing, but this is how it is described in the Cine 9 service manual. However, without jumper is not the way to go. And the middle fan should not spin at start up.

Alright, then you found it. No errors and the middle fan is controlled by the temp. in the SMPS.

Alright, then you found it. No errors and the middle fan is controlled by the temp. in the SMPS. Confirmed: the jumper must to set in "frame" position. No errors, middle fan not spin at start up but after 10/15 minutes. Now I must to repair broken fan control. So Hulio if 909's users would to add the fan control feature they must - flash firmware with Cine9 or Cinemax file. - Add two R763706 fan interfaces. Others?

Not necessarily. A 909 will become less loud only with the jumper on the focus board set to "+FAN" and a controller flash. Duplicating the Cine 9 fan circuit, will make it even more quiet and safer. This involves at least one R763706 board in the convergence tray ( the one in the back it is not really a must, there are even original CineMax machines without one in the back ) and, more important, the metal baffles to get rid of the air turbulence. The big one behind the rear fans and the two hush-boxes close to the red and blue neck-cards. This is how I did it, I think I already showed the pictures in the past.

Do you think to add a fan near controller heatsink in conv tray?

I would rather put a larger aluminium heat sink, instead of an extra fan. An additional fan will increase the noise plus, you'll have to use a external power supply. I wouldn't mess with the existing cooling circuit, it is very protectieve designed ( maybe too protectieve ).

Flashing software to Cine 9 from 909 is enough to slow the fans down, if done tests.

That should say Ive done tests. Without the fan control boards the fans still ran slower and quiet with Cine 9 software.

Today I tried to replace broken transistor in original fan's control. It doesn't work. Actually the Cinemax works with a control fan of Reality 909's of my friend. So I need a working fan's controller. Someone have one to sell?

Sad to see you have still an issue with that board. Guys I have repaired this board for decibel about three months ago. Had to replace a lot of components to get it fixed ,made me think what went wrong. Uhmm.. that looks not good again, ground pin4 of the mc34063A is blown out. Are you sure no wires are damaged and that all shrapnel from drilling the hole (witch likely started the board to fail) is removed. How meany hours approximately did it run fine after repair before this failure? I can fix it again if you want.
