Works well, which points do I need to check?

At pins 47 and 48 I have the same, low distorted sounding music that I get at the speaker terminals. It is much quieter than when I checked it right at the input. I also noticed a loud pop in the speaker once I connected it and there is 2.5vdc preset at pins 47 and 48. Not sure if that matters.

Go back to the ASP board (input)and see if Q4005 is populated.

You could solder some wires, at the bottom testing points. Last time I did this, I had 12 wires coming out from the bottom.

Q4005 is not populated. Just to check I took the board that now has sound and no video and switched it between the receivers, both have sound clear as day but neither has video.

You lost me here. What board is this? A 3rd?

Sorry, only 2 complete units at the moment, the original board that had no power, you were correct with the crystal being bad. I replaced it this morning. Now the original receiver powers up and has sound output but no video output. I don't know if it's related to the no power situation or if I messed something up soldering or testing. As it stands right now I have 2 units, one has no sound out and one has no video out and unfortunately both seem to still be in the HDMI control board.

Ok. So the hdmi board you just put the crystal in has normal sound but no video. If you put this HDMI board in the other no sound receiver you then have good sound and no video?
And if you take the no sound HDMI board and put it in the other receiver you still have no sound?

That is correct, never thought so many different problems could originate from the same board.

Ok. In staying with the no sound board for now, test voltage at pin 46 of Q1005.

Try removing R1076 or R1077 or both and then test the audio signal with the signal tracer at 1 pad of each removed resistor and see if the signal is now clean and strong.

Removed both and one side of the resistor pad has no audio signal, the other has the distorted static sounding audio that was the same at pins 47 and 48.

Boy, I am surprised it is bad sound. The trace goes right from that pad to 2 connectors that then leave the HDMI board and go to the ASP board. And you said the problem is definitely on the HDMI board. Maybe test at the connectors with the signal tracer. Can you find the test points on the schematic or do you need me to give them to you?
