I didn't have any audio at point J4606 or P6021. I'm not sure how to find the other points on the schematic. If you could list them I'd appreciate it.

I would go back to the start of the signal where it leaves the ASP board at connector P1501B, pins 17 and 19 and test for good audio signal there.

At P1501B I have the same static low volume sound on pins 19 and 17. At pin 19 I have 1.4vdc and pin 17 has 1.6vdc. Then I switched to the board with sound but no video. Now I have 2.5vdc at pin 17 and 19 and the audio is perfectly clear at pin 17 and 19. Then just to double check I put both boards in the other receiver with the same results. Is something not supplying the preamp circuit with enough voltage or draining it somewhere?

The voltage difference could be because you still have R3072 and R3073 removed. Put them back in and also test R1153 for open. If ok then test your voltage at pins 19 and 17 again.

Put the resistors back in and voltage was 2.5v at pins 19 and 17. That's probably the smallest thing I've ever tried to solder and they appear to be connected properly. R1153 reads less than 1 ohm.

Something does not make sense here. Lets try this. Set DMM to ohm scale and remove both HDMI boards. Do an ohm test between the following pins on both boards so we can compare.
IC-Q1005, pin 41 and connector P1501A, pin 16 " pin 47 " " " pin 17 " pin 48 " " " pin 19

Both come out the same, pin 41 to 16 <1ohm pin 47 to 17 66.6ohm pin 48 to 19 66.6ohm

When you use a digital input you have the same no/poor sound output, correct?

Correct, I have no sound at all with digital and the analog is barely audible and very poor at max volume with my ear right next to the speaker.

Well at this point I don't think any testing will find the problem. All you can do is take the symptoms and do a best guess on what to try to replace. If I had to guess on what first i would try the DAC, Q1004.

I'll take a swing at that one, I haven't ever soldered an ic like that before. Would the no video board be easier to fix? Hoping it something much simpler so I can get at least one good unit out of the two. Where would I start looking for 5v on these?

You would probably need a hot air station for that ic.
We can switch to the no video board. With this board, you have good sound, even with HDMI in but no video or menu on HDMI out, correct?

On the no video board I don't get a menu screen and I can't any picture with hdmi. I have clear audio through analog and digital sources(hdmi and bluetooth) just never get any picture.

I bought one of the cheap hot air stations and changed out Q1004 on the unit with no audio. It makes all the surface mount components much easier to remove/replace. I am still not getting any audio from any of the inputs. What would be next to try?

Is Q1003 populated in your unit?
